---+++Install CMS software

Follow the steps below to install the CMS package &lt;package&gt; on Debian (e.g. &lt;package&gt;=ORCA_8_13_0).

   * Upgrade to Debian Sid
   * Create some symbolic links:

ln -s /usr/lib/libssl.so.0.9.7    /usr/lib/libssl.so.4
ln -s /usr/lib/libcrypto.so.0.9.7 /usr/lib/libcrypto.so.4

   * Download rpms
<blockquote>

cd <download-directory>
wget http://cmsdoc.cern.ch/cms/oo/repos_standalone/download/download/download.sh
./download.sh <package>
</verbatim>

   * Install
<blockquote>

cd XCMSInstall
setenv VO_CMS_SW_DIR <install-directory>
./cmsi.pl -c default     -f cmsset.csh
./cmsi.pl -d "<package>" -f cmsset.csh -g config
</verbatim>
</blockquote>
   * Save =cmsset.csh= for later use.
      Before working with CMS software, each time =source cmsset.csh= in order to set necessary variables.
   * For running on Debian Sid, =cxxcompiler=, =f77compiler= and =ccompiler= have to be reconfigured to use the compiler of the machine. In addition, for ORCA_8_13_0, =pythia= has to be set up.
